Paper Logbook Audits

Paper Audit Overview

For pilots who intend to keep flying with a paper logbook, AcuLog offers a stand-alone audit of your handwritten flight records. Unlike our transcription services, the goal here isn't to move your data into a digital logbook—it's to hand you a clear, organized list of everything worth a second look, so you can make corrections directly in the logbook you already keep.

Important: A Paper Logbook Audit does not produce an import file for a digital logbook program. If your goal is to go digital, our Paper to Digital Transcription Service includes the same line-by-line audit along with an import-ready file for the e-logbook platform of your choice.

Comprehensive Paper Logbook Audit™

Our Comprehensive Paper Logbook Audit™ is a detailed, line-by-line review of your paper logbooks—perfect for pilots preparing for check rides, interviews, or career transitions who plan to keep their records on paper.

Behind the scenes, we follow the same rigorous process as our Premium Transcription Service. Our team reads and independently captures every entry, recalculates your page totals and totals to date, checks each line for accuracy, identifies math errors, and flags potential logging discrepancies based on FAA rules and regulations. Because we recalculate your totals independently, we're able to catch cumulative errors that are nearly impossible to spot by flipping through the pages yourself.

At the end of the process, you'll receive an Excel findings report that identifies every item by logbook, page, and line number, along with a description of what we found and what you may want to consider. Findings are organized so you can work through your logbook efficiently, page by page, rather than jumping back and forth between books. Because some handwriting or scans may be difficult to interpret, any entry we couldn't read with confidence is noted as such so you can verify it against the original.

Even if you're not preparing for a specific event, a comprehensive audit offers peace of mind. Many pilots are surprised by the small errors and irregularities that can build up over a career.

Need Help Reviewing Your Findings?
Corrections to a paper logbook are always made by the pilot, in the pilot's own handwriting—AcuLog does not alter, annotate, or write in your logbooks. If you'd like one-on-one assistance working through your findings report, AcuLog offers optional Virtual Logbook Review Sessions. One of our team members will meet with you to walk through the findings together, clarify discrepancies, and answer questions. Sessions are billed hourly and added to your final invoice.

⚠️ NOTE: AcuLog reviews all data required for a complete audit, except for remarks, endorsements/certificates, and approach types (we do capture quantity of approaches). No .csv or import template is delivered as part of this service. AcuLog also does not use original paper logbooks to compare against existing digital records for the purpose of checking transcription errors made by another party; if that's what you need, please contact us to discuss a Custom Project.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Not all projects performed by AcuLog come with an audit service. Upon engagement of a service that includes auditing, AcuLog conducts a thorough review to help identify and notify the customer of any potential discrepancies or errors. However, AcuLog does not and cannot provide an official guarantee that the audited file will be 100% free of errors or omissions.

The customer (Pilot) retains full responsibility for reviewing their personal flight records, along with AcuLog’s findings, and independently determining whether to make any adjustments to flight data. Any modifications made are at the sole discretion of the pilot and should be in accordance with any applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) standards.
